Young Democrats of IL, CA, and MI Thank Democratic Governors Across the Country For their Efforts During the 2020 Virus Outbreak

Thank You Democratic Governors.jpg

When the Trump administration failed to show any form of leadership amid the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic, Democratic governors across the country stepped up to provide the necessary services and actions that the White House did not.

- In Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker mobilized every available state resource to the aid of local governments and issued a Stay at Home Executive Order to prevent the spread of the Virus. He also put in place requirements for insurance companies to cover telehealth services, and prohibited them from imposing any cost-sharing for in-network providers.

- In California, Governor Gavin Newsom guided the most populous state in the nation with a steady hand through social distancing and the evolving Stay at Home order while leasing two hospitals to increase the availability of beds for COVID-19 patients. The Governor also acknowledged acts of xenophobia and racism against Asian Americans amid the outbreak; promising to watch for and enforce aggressively against the acts.

- In Michigan, Governor Whitmer created four COVID-19 task forces to address its effect on all aspects of state operations. Governor Whitmer was also the fifth governor to announce a statewide stay at home order in an attempt to flatten the curve of cases.

That is just a fraction of the efforts those Democratic governor, and other Democratic Governors across the country, are making to keep their residents safe from the Corona virus. All of this is in stark contrast to Republicans who occupy offices at all levels of government, who seem more interested in using this outbreak for political gain rather than protecting Americans from deadly diseases. We join to thank our Democratic governors, and all those across the country who are taking steps to protect the health of their constituents rather than play partisan games.
